Bombardier’s CSeries, completed its first flight on Monday (September 16), a milestone for both the aircraft programme and Pratt & Whitney’s new geared turbofan engine. The white and blue CS100 test aircraft landed beside Bombardier’s Mirabel, Quebec plant at 12:23 p.m. EDT (1623 GMT) and "it flew very well," according to Bombardier’s chief test pilot. Bombardier claims the aircraft will offer a 15 per cent cash operating cost saving and a 20 per cent fuel burn advantage compared with competing single-aisle jets.
