Bombardier yesterday (July 16) announced two commitments from existing customers that take the number of commitments to buy CSeries aircraft up to 513. One unidentified customer has signed a purchase agreement for up to 13 CS300 aircraft. The conditional deal includes seven firm CS300 orders and the option to buy a further six aircraft. The deal followed the announcement that an African airline which operates Bombardier aircraft had signed a letter of intent to purchase five CSeries aircraft. Ray Jones, senior VP sales, marketing, and asset management at Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, said the firm was “very optimistic” about the CSeries orderbook, which has been the subject of speculation for not including any major airlines. “We are well on our way to reach our target for 300 firm orders by entry-into-service, and have already achieved our 20 customer goal,” he said.
