ExxonMobil Oil Approved For Pratt’s GTF Engine Types

Lubricants will be used on two GTF variants.

ExxonMobil’s Mobile Jet Oil 387 has been approved by Pratt & Whitney for use in its PW1100G-JM and PW1400G geared turbofan engines.

The PW1100G-JM is an engine option for the Airbus A320neo aircraft, while the PW1400G-JM powers the Russian-made Irkut MC-21 jet.

Vipin Rana, global aviation lubricants sales manager at ExxonMobil, said the 387 oil is well suited to protect gearboxes used in the engine types in demanding operating conditions, primarily because it maintains film thickness between moving components.

The latest engine types join other approvals gained by the 387 oil in the past year, which includes the Engine Alliance GP7200 and the P&W PW4000 and PW1500 engines.
