Hairline Cracks Found In In-Production 787s

Boeing has reported that hairline cracks have been discovered in the wings of approximately 40 in-production 787s. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries notified the manufacturer of the problem, which arose after a change in the Japanese company’s manufacturing process. It will take between one and two weeks to fix each aircraft, meaning the delivery of some aircraft could be delayed by a few weeks. Boeing is confident the problem does not affect in-service aircraft.
