MTU Low-Pressure Turbine Passes Stress Test

A high-speed, low-pressure turbine destined for Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower Geared Turbofan engine on the A320neo has passed mandatory stress tests. MTU reports that this is the major hurdle for the turbine to pass. The tests measured vibrational stresses on the blades and also thermal load and temperature. Over 400 sensors were used to monitor the blades.
