PM Opens Bombardier’s New Belfast Facility

UK prime minister David Cameron has officially opened Bombardier’s new wing manufacturing and assembly facility in Belfast, Ireland. The 600,000sq-ft facility produces the wings for the CSeries aircraft, which had its maiden flight last month. The wings are made using a carbon-fibre composite technology developed by Bombardier engineers in Northern Ireland. The new technology aims to achieve material and aircraft weight savings and ultimately reduce manufacturing cycle times and fuel burn.
