Regulators Approve GE’s Avio Takeover

General Electric (GE) has been granted anti-trust approval for its $4.3bn takeover of Avio’s AeroEngine division. The Federal Trade Commission gave its approval on Friday, following the European Commission last Tuesday (16 July). Avio – which supplies GE with components – manufactures parts for engines, including low-pressure turbine systems, accessory gearboxes, geared systems and combustors. As part of the approval, GE guaranteed it will not hinder Avio’s supply of an accessory gearbox to rival Pratt & Whitney for its PW1100G engine.
