Shadin Avionics’ EFB Receives iPad Certification

Shadin Avionics’ ‘flyTab’ aircraft interface module (AIM), which received Federal Aviation Administration Technical Standard Order (FAA TSO) certification in June last year, has now been certified on a NAV CANADA CRJ200. The flyTab ‘Software Developers Kit’ (SDK) enables airlines, OEMs and aircraft manufacturers to develop, deploy and support applications and enterprise tools for iOS. “The system was assembled, installed and tested in accordance with strict FAA certification processes, and we are very pleased to have achieved this successful operational milestone,” said Van Simmons, director of flyTab SDK and iOS AppDev. According to Shadin Avionics, the certification is the first FAA approved on-board implementation of an iPad-based Class 2 electronic flight bag (EFB).
