UTC Aerospace Systems Opens Composite Centre

UTC Aerospace Systems’ advanced composites manufacturer CTG has completed its UK-based composite centre located in Banbury, Oxfordshire. The 137,000ft2 facility will unite its current six sites into one location, increasing its footprint by 90 per cent. It will allow CTG to manufacture large quantities of advanced composite products and systems more effectively.  CTG specialises in winding technology, in particular precise fibre placement techniques and implementing new technology in joining metals to composites. Services at the new site will include: dedicated production lines, a technical library, smart boards, a gymnasium, and flexible meeting spaces. The facility will be fully operational by June 2013.
