Washington Workers Reject Boeing Contract Offer

The International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers in Washington has rejected a long-term contract extension from Boeing. The manufacturer said it had sought to keep the production of the 777X and its new composite wing in Puget Sound, but will now “open the process competitively and pursue all options for the 777X”. Members of the District 751 branch of the union rejected Boeing’s proposal with 67 per cent of the votes, mostly in protest at Boeing’s attempts to end a traditional pension plan and increase their health care costs.
