American To Add Wi-Fi To Regional Jets

American Airlines (AA) is to add inflight internet access to close to 250 regional jets as part of its $2bn investment in upgrading its fleet. The airline will equip all of its two-class regional jets with Gogo’s wi-fi services by 2016, by which time it will have the world’s largest fleet of wireless connected regional jets. AA currently has nearly 850 aircraft with Gogo wi-fi, approximately 70 of which are two-class regional jets. It also has 500 aircraft on order, 90 of which are large regional jets including the E175 and Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen.
